Tromsø Wilderness Centre

We are again organizing a dog sledding trip at the Tromsø Wilderness Centre after the Closing Ceremony on Friday March 10th for conference participants interested in partaking with a group of familiar faces. This has been a favorite activity in years past and we wanted to make sure that everyone has a chance to experience this unique event again! The sleds are drawn by a team of enthusiastic huskies and are either driven by you or a guide. After the tour you will be taken back to the Wilderness Center to enjoy a simple rustic meal in a Sami lavvo (the traditional home of the Sami indigenous people) and the opportunity to cuddle up to the dogs and, best of all, their puppies!

All costs associated with dog sledding are the responsibility of the individual, and are expected to run about NOK 850. You can indicate your interest and pay when filling out the registration form. Although warm winter clothing will be available on-site (snow suit & boots) we recommend that you dress in additional warm layers, including hats, gloves, and warm socks. Please pack accordingly. Transportation will be arranged between the Tromsø city center and the Wilderness Centre which is located about 25 minutes away by car on the neighboring island of Kvaløya. If conditions are favorable, this location far away from the city is a great place to spot the northern lights!
