Bioactivity in marine derived substances and substance cocktails have been demonstrated is a variety of indications. ScandiDerma focuses on the use of these substances in cosmeceuticals to promote skin health. We are profiting on extensive local research experience on arctic marine bioprospecting and are in cooperation with Marbio setting up a screening toolbox targeting a variety of dermatological indications. With our research, we aim to address three issues; firstly, a large amount of marine byproducts containing potential skin bioactive substances are currently being wasted in marine industries. Secondly, there is an increased marked demand for clean, natural, non-toxic products whose activity has been scientifically demonstrated. Thirdly, few commercialization channels are currently available for the large amount of research being performed on arctic marine substances. ScandiDerma currently manufactures and sells an existing skin product series based on own and licensed substances form arctic biotechnology. With an established skin bioprospecting toolkit we can develop new pipeline products, either through in-house bioprospecting or in collaboration with local industries and academia. Identified bioactive substances can be tested in-house for early indications, allowing us to focus our research on true candidate substances. Viable candidates will be brought to market through our existing product commercialization processes.
